Hi All,

(BTW - Shrek 2 is a great movie, go see it if you have not already
done so.)

Anyway, I noticed a number of LoTR movie references in it, and
wondered if I had missed any.

The ones I noticed:
1. The most obvious is the beginning, where they forge a ring for
Fiona. The camera angle as it falls onto her finger and the firey
letters leaves no doubt this is a direct reference.

2. When Shrek jumps onto Donkey toward the end he does it exactly the
same as Legolas on TTT.

3. When the big gingerman kicks the firey gumdrop button it hits the
castle wall and smashes the castle wall in a similiar way to the RoTK
- siege of Gondor.

4. Oh, and I am sure the music during this scene has a familiar ring
to it.

5. The 'Poison Apple' inn is very similiar to the Prancing Pony - with
one very familiar camera angle when "The Poison apple" sign appears. -
cool name for a pub too.

6. When Prince Charming arrives in the potion factory after Shrek has
escaped, he twirls his sword around, and then holds it vertically in
front of his face - just like Aragorn.

Remember how the first movie lifted a fight sequence from "Crouching
Tiget, Hidden Dragon"?

I'm not in the least suprised the second film had LOTR references
galore...

That was taken from the Matrix, not crouching tiger. Shrek was almost done
production before crouching tiger was released in the US, also you can tell
by the music.

Sorry. I've never seen "The Matrix", believe it or not...

OT: When Puss in Boots was nursing a shot at the poison apple, he muttered
under his breath, "I hate Mondays." When he said this I thought it was a
shot at Garfield, because both cats are the same color and it is a very
Garfield-esque comment to make. Am I way off with this or did anyone else
feel the same way? At the same time I thought the reference was way too
obscure to be true, as it is a big stretch to associate the two.

I did not pick this reference up, but have noticed it on other boards
and websites.

I have an even more obscure reference which I am 100% convinced is
correct - at the beginning of the movie Shrek gets caught in the trap
and Fiona takes out the peasants. Her final uppercut punch is EXACTLY
the same as Ryu on Street Fighter 2.

I thought the same thing at the time. It was exactly like his "shuryuken"
attack. Perhaps the artists liked the style of the attack but didn't mean it
as a reference to be picked up by the rest of us.
